walk work (working title) 2023

Audio-based project for audience members to experience one at a time while listening to audio scores on headphones with instructions guiding them through urban spaces. Using the familiar format of a guided audio tour, audience members become “main characters” in their own private performance. While the project is designed for one person to experience at a time, interactors may cross paths with other people listening on their own timeline as well as interacting with everyday people who may or may not be aware that a performance is happening at all. Everything in the urban environment becomes part of the work - whether placed there intentionally or by chance - and whether or not anyone notices. walk work blurs the lines between performer and audience, and between art and everyday life.
